Sessions

You didn’t get to the point where you are now overnight. It might have taken many years. It will also take some time to change the behaviour patterns that got you here.

Usually, within 3 to 6 months, we can make a lot of progress. Depending on your situation and your needs, we can meet every week, or 2 to 3-weekly. We'll decide on the frequency together.

Sessions are possible in English, Dutch or French.

A pragmatic approach

Clients appreciate the pragmatic approach that the methodology of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) brings.

The unusual name of this approach comes from one of its key themes: learning how to accept those things that are out of your control, and commit to changing those things that can be changed to make your life better.

We'll spend time discovering what you really want out of life; what's important and meaningful to you, deep in your heart. At the same time, the aim is to teach you a set of skills that will allow you to handle difficult and painful thoughts and feelings far more effectively, in such a way that they have much less impact and influence over you. These are called 'mindfulness skills'.

You could say this approach is a mix of therapy and coaching. Depending on your situation, we can focus more on the therapeutic side, or on the coaching side. This might also evolve throughout the trajectory.

We will work together in a structured way

Face-to-face (or online) sessions

We will meet regularly for individual sessions, either face-to-face or online. The number of sessions depends on your specific situation, and we will decide and schedule them together.

Hands-on approach

Whenever needed, you'll get questions to reflect on, questionnaires, exercises to do, or action plans to make. This will help you move forward more efficiently, and it will provide extra input for the sessions.
